Integrative Nourishing Solutions & Nervous System Regulation for SVT
A New Way to Understand Your SVT
For more than 15 years, I’ve been on my own journey of understanding SVT—not simply as an electrical event, but as something that exists within the larger environment of the body and the life we are living.
When I first began experiencing SVT, I was terrified. I was having frequent episodes, living with constant fear of when the next one would happen, and waking up every day wondering how I was going to feel.
I felt overwhelmed by the anticipatory anxiety and, because SVT was still so unfamiliar to most people around me, I felt incredibly alone.
I knew I didn’t want my only options to be medication or ablation. I wanted to understand my body. I wanted to know if there was something I could do to support myself.
So I began searching.
I explored nutrition, digestion, hydration, minerals, stress, the nervous system, the vagus nerve, emotions, self-care, mindset, intuition and the ways our bodies respond to the lives we are living.
And over the years, something began to become very clear to me:
SVT doesn’t happen in isolation.
Our hearts exist within a whole system.
The way we nourish ourselves, sleep, digest, recover, respond to stress, process emotions and care for ourselves all contribute to the environment in which our bodies are functioning.
And for some of us, SVT may be the body’s MAX response—the dramatic signal that can occur when multiple layers of physical, nutritional, emotional and nervous-system load have accumulated.
This is the lens through which I’ve come to understand my own SVT, and the foundation of the Heal SVT Naturally Approach.
The Heal SVT Naturally Approach
The Heal SVT Naturally Approach is my integrative way of looking at SVT through a wider lens.
Rather than focusing only on the episode itself, we become curious about the story surrounding it.
What was happening before it occurred?
How were you eating? Sleeping? Digesting? Recovering?
What kind of stress were you carrying?
What was happening emotionally?
Were you listening to your body’s signals—or pushing through them?
What patterns have you noticed that perhaps you haven’t known how to put together?
This isn’t about finding one universal cause of SVT.
It’s about learning to understand YOUR story.
My approach brings together integrative nourishment and nervous-system regulation while also recognizing the emotional and intuitive dimensions of healing.
At its heart are four simple ways of looking at the system:
NOURISH
Food
Hydration
Minerals
Digestion
Supplements
Blood sugar
The SVT-GUT connection
We explore how the way you nourish yourself may be supporting—or adding to—the overall load on your system.
REGULATE
Nervous system
Vagus nerve
Sleep
Stress
Movement
Recovery
Sensory load
We explore what keeps your system in a state of activation and what helps bring you back toward regulation.
RELEASE
Emotional expression
Journaling
Boundaries
Self-care
Processing what you’re carrying
Sometimes what we are carrying emotionally becomes part of our overall load. Learning healthier ways to process, express and release can become an important part of the work.
LISTEN
Intuition
Body awareness
Personal patterns
Rest
Inner wisdom
Recognizing your signals
Rather than waiting until your body has to shout, we begin learning how to listen when it whispers.
The MAX Load Theory
One of the central ideas within my work is what I call the MAX Load Theory.
I think of SVT as a potential MAX response—a point at which multiple layers of load may have accumulated and the body reaches its individual threshold.
That load may look different for everyone.
For one person, it may be primarily nutritional or digestive.
For another, chronic stress, poor sleep and nervous-system activation may be significant.
For someone else, emotional stress, depletion, hormonal changes or lifestyle demands may be part of the picture.
And often, it’s not one thing.
It’s the accumulation.
The goal isn’t to control every variable in your life.
It’s to become more aware of what contributes to YOUR load—and learn how to create more nourishment, regulation, release and connection before your system reaches MAX.
SVT as a Teacher
This is perhaps the most personal part of my philosophy.
I no longer look at SVT simply as something that happened TO me.
I began to wonder:
What if my body was trying to tell me something?
What if an episode could become an invitation to listen more closely to my physical needs, my emotional needs, my nervous system and even the way I was living my life?
I don’t believe every episode has a single hidden emotional meaning, and I don’t believe anyone causes their own SVT by failing to “listen.”
But I do believe that symptoms can create an opportunity for greater awareness.
And that learning to listen to your body can change the relationship you have with your health.
For me, SVT became a catalyst.
It taught me to pay attention.
To nourish myself differently.
To slow down.
To understand my nervous system.
To become more honest about what I needed.
And ultimately, to listen to my own heart in a much deeper way.
There Is More You Can Explore
I don’t believe you have to choose between appropriate medical care and learning how to support yourself in other ways.
Your cardiologist, medications, procedures and medical treatment have their place.
So does learning about your own body.
There are many things within your sphere of influence: the way you nourish yourself, how you recover, how you respond to stress, how you process emotions, how you care for yourself and how closely you listen to your own patterns.
The Heal SVT Naturally Approach exists to help you explore those possibilities.
Not with another generic list of triggers.
But with a deeper understanding of your own story.
An Approach That Continues to Evolve
The Heal SVT Naturally Approach has grown out of more than 15 years of personal experience, study, observation and conversations with people living with SVT.
Over the years, I’ve collected an enormous amount of information—not only from my own SVT journey, but from the patterns, experiences, triggers, successes and challenges people have shared with me through my community and private work.
There is still so much I want to understand.
One of the future directions of this work is to begin looking more systematically at this body of information—to explore the patterns that may emerge across many individual SVT stories and what they may teach us about nourishment, nervous-system regulation, lifestyle, emotional load and SVT.
I don’t have all of those answers yet.
And I’m not pretending that I do.
But after 15 years of paying attention, I believe there is something worth investigating.
The Heal SVT Naturally Approach is both a body of work—and an ongoing exploration.
And I’m excited to keep learning.
My Mission
My mission is simple:
To help people with SVT feel less afraid, more informed and more empowered in their own bodies.
I want you to know that your options for supporting yourself may be broader than you realize.
I want you to understand your own patterns.
I want you to learn practical, integrative ways to nourish and regulate your system.
And I want you to develop a relationship with your body that is rooted in curiosity rather than fear.
Because I know what it feels like to be terrified of the next episode.
And I also know what it feels like to become an “old pro”—to understand your body, recognize your patterns and stop living every day waiting for SVT to happen.
That transformation is at the heart of why I do this work.
I’m so glad you’re here.
xo,
Laura
