When My Heart Became My Teacher
For years, I believed my heart had betrayed me.
When I experienced my first episode of SVT in my twenties, I saw it as something that had gone wrong. Something to fix. Something to control. Like so many people living with chronic symptoms, I spent years searching for answers outside of myself.
But looking back now, I see something very different.
I don’t believe my heart was working against me.
I believe it was trying to get my attention.
That realization didn’t happen overnight. It unfolded over many years as I explored nutrition, lifestyle, nervous system regulation, emotional healing, journaling, intuition, and the deeper connection between our physical symptoms and our inner lives.
As I healed, I began to notice something.
The seasons when I felt the most disconnected from myself were often the seasons when my body struggled the most.
I was constantly pushing.
Overworking.
Ignoring my own needs.
Putting everyone else first.
Living from stress instead of peace.
My body eventually asked me a question my mind had been avoiding:
What if healing isn’t about trying harder?
What if it begins by listening?
That question changed everything.
I stopped seeing my SVT as an enemy and began seeing it as a messenger.
Instead of asking, “How do I stop this?” I began asking, “What is my heart trying to tell me?”
That simple shift transformed the way I approached healing.
Yes, nutrition mattered.
Yes, hydration, minerals, gut health, sleep, and nervous system regulation all mattered.
But so did my emotions.
My boundaries.
My intuition.
My relationship with myself.
My heart wasn’t asking for one magic supplement.
It was asking me to care for myself in ways I never had before.
It was inviting me to slow down, honor my needs, trust my intuition, and create a life that felt more peaceful, nourishing, and aligned.
Over time, I realized that this way of tending to myself wasn’t just changing my health, it was changing my entire life.
It influenced the way I built my business.
The way I created.
The way I restored vintage clothing (my creative passtime)
The way I coached others.
The way I approached every form of transformation.
Whether I was helping someone understand their SVT, reconnect with their intuition, or rediscover their authentic self, the process always seemed to be the same:
Slow down. Listen deeply. Honor what matters. Release what no longer serves you. Reveal what has been waiting beneath the surface all along.
Eventually, I gave this philosophy a name:
The Art of Re-Creation.
Ironically, it was my SVT that first taught it to me.
Today, I no longer believe healing is simply about eliminating symptoms.
I believe it’s about understanding them.
Listening to them. Learning from them.
Because our bodies are always communicating with us.
My heart became my greatest teacher.
And perhaps the greatest lesson it ever gave me was this:
Your body is not betraying you.
It is guiding you back to yourself.
